Dream Again, the record-breaking film of the young mountaineer Adriana Brownlee

Dream. Again and again. Higher, further. Adriana Brownlee is one of those people who turn their dreams into goals. And once she has achieved them, she dreams again. Higher. Further. Born in London, the woman who was destined by life to climb buildings and metro stairs rather than mountains is now recognised, at the age of 23, as one of the most talented mountaineers in the world. Indeed, the gifted Englishwoman is on her way to making history by becoming the youngest mountaineer to climb the world's 14 peaks at over 8000 metres.
Adriana Brownlee recounts this quest in the film ‘Dream Again’, directed by Mathis Decroux and supported by Therm-ic. A decoding of an authentic and heroic epic, full of hope and messages. Yes, women are exceptional mountaineers! And yes, ‘Generation Z’, to which Adriana Brownlee belongs - contrary to popular belief - wants to make a difference!
‘The gifted Englishwoman is on her way to making history by becoming the youngest mountaineer to climb the world's 14 peaks over 8000 metres high.’
Adriana Brownlee is on a mission. To fulfil the dreams of the little girl she once was. By setting out to conquer the 14 ‘8000s’, she began the work - or rather the masterpiece - of a lifetime. The starting point of this monumental epic, she wrote on a letter in primary school, when her teacher asked her to write on a small piece of paper what she would like to ‘do later’. The answer was simple: climb the highest mountain in the world, Everest.
Almost 15 years later, the wish came true. Thanks to the unique personality of the young English girl, to some extent, and thanks to the purity of the passion instilled in her by her father, to a large extent.
In the film ‘Dream Again’, you will meet an extremely motivated and determined little girl who, from the age of 8, shows a desire to achieve unique and singular things.
At the age of 9, Adriana Brownlee cultivated the first seeds of her ‘mountain state of mind’ by taking on a legendary challenge from the other side of the Channel: the National Three Peaks Challenge, which consists of climbing the UK's three main peaks in less than 24 hours. She then continued her training gradually, under the guidance of a patient and kind father. Adriana Brownlee even missed her ‘prom’ because she was climbing Mount Elbrus: that says a lot about her sense of priorities!
Her passion gradually shifted from the mountains to the high mountains: Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua before she was 18; the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc in the same day; then, on 31 May 2021, Everest. The realisation of a 12-year long conscientious endeavour. And the start of a new adventure: ‘Once you've climbed that high, you can't go back down, otherwise you'll lose your way.’
This is how the “masterpiece of her life” began: to become the youngest mountaineer to climb the 14 peaks over 8,000 metres high: Manaslu and Dhaulagiri in 2021; Annapurna, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak and K2 in 2022; then, come 2023, the last four summits to conquer.
‘Once you've climbed that high, you can't go back down, otherwise you'll lose your way.’
Thermoregulation – that is to say, the proper management of body temperature – is an absolutely crucial issue, up there, at more than 8000 metres, where nothing is a detail, where every decision has serious consequences. It was in this context that we met Adriana Brownlee. The British mountaineer was looking for the most reliable, high-performance and innovative equipment to protect her from the ‘Big Cold’, and so it was only natural that her path crossed that of Therm-ic.
Beyond providing her with heated equipment – gloves, socks and textiles – we decided to support her in the making of her film. Because this exceptional young woman was about to write history, her history, and we felt it was essential to tell her story. To spread Adriana Brownlee's message loud and clear: believe in your dreams and work hard to achieve them.
The film, directed by the talented French videographer Mathis Decroux and produced by Stiga, is a compendium of sporting achievements and pure emotions. Raw, powerful and authentic, this mountain film immerses us in the ascent of Gasherbrum I and II in Pakistan. This double ascent is a real challenge for Adriana Brownlee and her most faithful climbing partner, Gelje Sherpa, famous for his rescues and winter exploits on K2, as they plan to climb these particularly hostile and rocky peaks, without oxygen and in a row. One adventure follows another, and the film has its share of twists and turns: will the mountaineer manage to tick off the 11th and 12th summits on her list? Nothing could be less certain!
‘Whatever the obstacles, continue on your way, because that's how you become a pioneer.’
This is what drives Adriana Brownlee, and the reason why we believed in her and supported her project: ‘Dream Again’ is not just a mountaineering film, it is a film with a message. It is not just a mountain film, but a film that promotes values. Values of passion, performance and respect for nature that we share with our talented athlete.
The three particularly powerful and positive messages that we take from this film are as follows:
Watching this film filled us with optimism and motivation like rarely before. We hope you feel the same rush after diving into the world of Adriana Brownlee.
‘Adriana Brownlee's film is a compendium of sporting achievements and pure emotion.’
